Mission & Vision
is a campaign devoted to ending Idaho’s direct care worker crisis. As it stands, there is a severe lack of funding and understanding about the importance of direct care work, making it impossible for caregivers to earn a living wage and leaving people struggling to find sufficient care.
We believe that older adults and Idahoans with disabilities should be in charge when it comes to the care they need to live their fullest lives. We are committed to changing public perceptions and governmental policies that have put them — and the people who care for them — in an unsustainable position.
Together, we aim to support and unify the direct care workforce, help them earn the wages they deserve, and ensure freedom and dignity for all Idahoans.
Power Independent Living
Our goals are to
Assure more independence, liberty, self-direction, and opportunity for financial freedom — both for those receiving direct care and those providing it.
Establish direct care work as a sustainable life career choice with competitive wages, insurance, and training.
Keep more Idahoans out of institutions so they can live a life of their choosing, in their own homes — saving taxpayer dollars.
Create a sense of pride, support, and community for Idaho’s direct care workers.
Increase opportunities for people with disabilities, such as employment, education, and community involvement.
To ensure older adults can stay in the homes they have been in for generations. Keep families together.
Our vision is
an Idaho in which no one goes without the care they need and direct care workers are valued.
